Father Jake Stops the World: Uganda World Prayer Day, HERE

UPDATED: WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 18, 2009

¨The Archbishop of York, John Sentamu, has made it clear that he will make no comment on the Bill, but pressure is growing on the Archbishop of Canterbury, Rowan Williams, to make a statement.

“I am sure that the vast majority of Christians - who hold a range of views on sexual ethics - will be horrified by the extreme and violent measures proposed in this Bill” said Symon Hill, associate director of the religion and society thinktank Ekklesia.

“By speaking out, it is possible to expose the hollowness of the religious rhetoric used by the Bill's supporters,” he added, “Given the place of Anglicanism in Ugandan life, it would be right and proper for the Archbishop of Canterbury, Rowan Williams, to end his silence and to oppose the bill in public.

HATE OF GAY--UGANDAN STYLE

¨Check out the post. And, they have kind of picked out some of the most offensive posts and shown them to the world.
Poor Ugandan haters. They believe that, in the name of Christ, they can hate like that right out there in the world.

Well, on my part, I am really glad that these guys are coming out and speaking the facts as they see them. They are my countrymates. For too long we gay people have been bashed by these hate mongers... It is good that they come out and be shamed for what they are! Each of those groups has more than 1000 fans, if I remember well.¨ HERE

ANGLICAN COMMUNION HUMAN RIGHTS OBSERVER AT THE UNITED NATIONS

Ugandan Mrs Hellen Grace Wangusa
, the former United Nations Africa coordinator of the Millennium Development Goals, accepted the call to be the next Anglican Observer at the United Nations in October last year. Speaking last year for ACNS, Hellen said she hopes to strengthen the rich contribution of the Anglican Communion into the political hubs at the United Nations and combine that with the UN committees in Geneva that specialise in humanitarian work. “I am keen to use my representative position to focus on War, Peace and promote diplomatic means of diffusing tensions and resolving conflicts," she said, "and from my ecumenical experience, promote relationships between member churches."

The UN Observer, Mrs Hellen Grace Wangusa from Uganda, has an office provided by the Episcopal Church (USA) at the Church Center 815 Second Avenue, New York, 10017. The direct office line is (001) 212-716- 6263 and the email address unoffice@episcopalchurch.org

Clarifying What Is Bigotry

¨The real bigot openly works for the establishment of state religion — his or her religion, naturally. Whether as a voter or lobbyist or legislator or judge or media person, he or she aims to see draconian laws passed that would deprive the disapprovees of their civil rights. In the name of state religion, the bigot wants to harass them, silence them, beat up on them, jail them, even torture them and kill them, if possible. Their mission statements make it very clear that this is what they aim to do.¨ HERE

Deadly silence from York? But it's worse than that, there's a positive statement that no statement will be made!

York is really the saddest of the ¨lot¨...a Ugandan who fled the murderous dictates of Idi Amin who NOW, as a English citizen, remains quiet regarding a murder law pending for LGBT Christians and others...the man is a sick joke of a priest.

An excellent post, Len. Name them, show them, shame them.

Silence is the voice of complicity.
