FUNDIE HOMOPHOBE WARNING: ¨It’s Not God Saying Gays Should Be Put to Death, It’s YOU¨

¨Alright. Let’s get one thing straight, fundie homophobes- you don’t get a pass when you “quote” the Leviticus Bible verse saying:

´If man lies with a man as he would lie with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination. They shall surely be put to death and their blood shall be upon them.´

...This may come as a shock to the “hate the sin, love the sinner” set, but by quoting that verse, it’s not God saying that gays should be put to death- it’s YOU. It’s not simply a personal religious view or a debatable “political difference” or a great talking point. YOU are saying that I should be put to death...

...This verse has become a homophobic cover for people to try to wash their hands of the damage they are doing and the violent, extremist views they hold. It’s become an accepted talking point for bigots and haters, parroted without any real thought about the consequences of saying a swath of people should be killed because their personal idea of ‘God says so.’...

...Oddly, the same people breeze over other ‘abomination’ verses in the same book and put on their mixed fiber clothing and eat their shrimp scampi after church....

...Think it’s a stretch to mention the Ugandan Pastor and a California Beauty Queen in the same post? It’s not. It’s the “trickle down” hate effect. Leaders crow about how gays should die and then small-minded bigots use it in casual conversation. It’s all the same hate...

...That’s why it’s important that we don’t give passes to people like Miss Beverly Hills. She invoked ‘death for gays’ in a discussion on gay marriage (and pageants) and wasn’t challenged by the interviewer. That’s how accepted the talking point has become.

That’s what we are facing.

And that’s why we have to always call it out.¨ HERE

A HOPE FOR AFRICA: Vicious anti-gay campaigns at Church will be counter-productive

¨I prophesy that the anti-gay campaigns will be counter-productive and will eventually bring about the very thing they are set up to eradicate – the acknowledgement and acceptance of LGBT people in African societies.¨

The Reverend Colin Coward

¨The possibility that there might be signs of hope for LGBT people in Africa seems unlikely in the context of the violence in Kenya and elsewhere and the proposed legislation in Uganda and Nigeria.¨

The Most Reverend Anglican ¨Abominators/Instigators of Hate¨ against Lesbian, Gay, Bi-Sexual and Transgender Christians/others in KENYA HERE

¨The future looked bad for some weeks, with the probability of increased public hostility, prejudice, intolerance and aggression, which has indeed happened in Uganda and Kenya. It looked (and may still look) as if an increased risk of public humiliation, arrest, imprisonment and death is the inevitable outcome for LGBT Africans¨

The Most Reverend Henry Luke Orombi (photo), Anglican Church of UGANDA, Grand Punishing Inquisitor of The Rt. Rev. Christopher Ssenyonjo, retired Bishop of West Buganda who offers spiritual counseling to Lesbian, Gay, Bi-Sexual and Transgender Anglicans/others HERE

¨LGBT people in Africa may have been intimidated by the anti-gay hysteria but some of them have also been motivated to work for change and stand up for themselves and their human rights.

International networks and relationships between pro-LGBT groups and individuals have been activated and strengthened. This is certainly true for Changing Attitude and our links across Africa. The internet is proving to be a huge influence in disseminating news and information and creating effective alliances.¨

¨A public discourse in each of the countries concerned has been started - not, perhaps, what the homophobes anticipated. Lesbian and gay attacks and anti-gay campaigns are regularly reported by the media. This means that people are learning about the real presence of LGBT people in their culture even if their prejudices are being fuelled at the moment. But people will also ask questions, especially if they suspect that someone in their own family or social network might be lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender. Pro-gay arguments are also being articulated and the subject is now irrevocably on the agenda – it will never go away.¨

DEATH THREAT FROM DADDY: MP ODONGA OTTO/UGANDA would kill, his Son, his Daughter, his little Brother, his Wife and/or his Grandpa if they were LGBT?

Odonga Otto, Member of Uganda Parliament--Death threats from Daddy

Would You Kill Your Own Son If He Was Gay?

¨You thought Ugandan lawmaker David Bahati, sponsor of the Anti-Homosexuality Bill, was a demon?

Then you haven't met his colleague Odonga Otto, who says he'd kill his own son if he found out he was A Gay.

Makau Mutua (pictured), the chairman of Kenya's Human Rights Commission and a co-organizer of the conference

This morning in Kampala, at an invite-only forum titled "Human Rights and Sexual Orientation" and attended by several ministers of parliament (and NGO officials, students, and academics), Odonga remarked, "Human rights are not sacrosanct. Private parts do not belong in the anus. We will not accept this kind of deviant behaviour in our society."

Flag of Uganda

Flag of Kenya

Makau Mutua, chairman of Kenya's Human Rights Commission, denounced Odonga's remarks. "I am baffled by the kind of hatred you spew against gay people, including your desire to be a hangman. Would you apply to be a hangman if the person to be hanged were your son?"

Odonga nodded. Which is also what you should expect him to do if the Kill The Gays bill comes up for a vote. HERE

BUT WAIT, DOES MP ODONGA OTTO HAVE A SON TO KILL OR WOULD HE BE HONORBOUND TO KILL HIS DAUGHTER, HIS WIFE, HIS LITTLE BROTHER OR GRANDPA INSTEAD?

¨I was of the opinion that the Parliament is a respected place for only MPs and maybe other VIPs who go there for special programs. But hell, if even Odonga Otto’s whole family frequents Parliament, then sign me up too.

Otto has at several occasions made an appearance with his wife and daughter in Parliament, accompanied by his younger brother and maybe we are about to see him with his grandpa.

And, as you can guess, it is because sometime back fellow MP Ruth Nankabiirwa abused him and said he was just another “young boy making noise in parliament.”

Since then, Otto has always decided to come with his family in parliament just to remind Nankabiirwa that he has a wife and kids---era amalako!¨ HERE

GAY IN AFRICA:¨From pulpits, that seem holy, despite the words of hate and venom pouring out of the mouths of the preachers...¨

Pastor Martin Ssempa, Porno Preacher, Uganda

Does anyone ever think of the fact that we are spiritual beings?

Definitely not the Church in Africa. The political capital to be made by loudly shouting and drowning out any words of reason is too great to ignore. And, the scriptures, those holy words written eons ago, they have fixed the brains, even those unborn. They have to be believed. And, they say, stone. Throw the stones, make the whole world know how holy and special you are. Throw the stones.

When preachers hold us in contempt, inside and outside the confessional-
when the crowds gather, and are ready to laugh in contempt, to cry and howl for blood- when the mere rumour of 'marriage' will bring out the preachers to 'Operation Gays Out'-

What toll does that have on us?

One thing that we are is, resilient.

We are gay. And, for eons, we have had the same trial by fire.

We drop on the way. We believe we can change. We embrace the preachers of shame and hate like they are our straw in the midst of the sea of change. They rape our minds, they destroy our bodies, they force the self hatred inside.

And we still survive

Celebrating Ash Wednesday

The social committee of a church in Uganda has organised a new line in entertainment. Social Affairs Secretary Mrs Trellis, of Idi Amin Street, Kampala, said:

We have never had such a popular response to one of our socials. We charged a modest fee at the door, so that we can carry on getting new material. We can go from strength to strength, with rippling muscles and pointing ahead firmly

It is a unique line of Christian entertainment: gay porn that attracted some 300 people, as many as could fit into the room without getting the film on the back of their heads and annoying everyone else. HERE

BREAKING LUNACY: ¨Until we conquer this gay thing, Jesus is never going to resurrect himself¨

"J-Elijah is my pseudonym for rap and poetry. When I chose my name as a lyricist, emcee, poet, I wanted to make sure it was spiritually significant. J-Elijah is based on the scriptures of Jeremiah 1:4-10 and Luke 1:13-17. God chose Jeremiah to be His mouthpiece. Before John the Baptist was born, the angel told Zachariah, his father, that John would go forward in the spirit and power of Elijah. J is short for Jeremiah and John the Baptist. Jeremiah, John the Baptist, and Elijah were chosen by The Lord of Hosts to minister repentance to their generation."

J-Elijah is our new favorite-ex-homosexual because he really has found the cure.

Megan Phelps

J-Elijah, the evangelical hip-hop artist who raps about leaving homosexuality, is giving Megan Phelps a run for her sanity. And while Megan will probably always operate in a deeper end of the lunacy pool, J-Elijah scores by mixing the ex-gay movement with religious fundamentalism that needs to be read to be believed. Or dismissed

Westboro Baptist Church/Pastor Fred Phelps, officiant

You'll remember J-Elijah from this post, where he eviscerates The Downlow and talks about how, through Christ, he overcame his homosexuality. Which is great news for him. But for all of earth's other Christians, he's got bad news:

¨Until we conquer this gay thing, Jesus is never going to resurrect himself. Again.¨

Bishop Orombi of UGANDA: Do YOU intend to continue punishing Bishop Christopher Ssenyonjo for his PASTORAL COUNSELING with Homosexuals in Uganda?

Archbishop Henry Orombi of UGANDA: Do YOU know NOT what you do as you abuse others? Do you LIE? Can YOU be Trusted? Why do YOU harm and abuse LGBT Anglicans/Christians and others? Why do you withhold the pension of Bishop Christopher Ssenyonjo? Bishop Ssenyonjo served the Anglican Church of Uganda for 50 years! Why do you persecute Bishop Ssenyonjo?

Bishop Orombi, The Uganda inquistions chief doubletalking blowhard

The Anglican Church of Uganda wants the country's parliament to streamline existing legislation to protect the confidentiality of medical, pastoral and counselling relationships, including those that disclose homosexual practices.

¨The Church none the less describes itself as “a safe place for individuals who are confused about their sexuality or struggling with sexual brokenness, to seek help and healing.¨Henry Luke Orombi, The Anglican Province of Uganda Church Times, HERE

¨At the same time, the Church of Uganda is committed at all levels to offer counseling, healing and prayer for people with homosexual disorientation...¨ Archibshop Henry Luke Orombi

Bishop Henry Luke Orombi of Uganda has a very TARNISHED record and has proven dangerous and UNTRUSTWORTHY when abusing Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Anglicans and others in the name of Christian service.

BISHOP OROMBI: Do you intend to make amends to the LGBT Anglicans YOU HARMED when you helped to crush the KITEMU COMMUNITY CENTER with Rev. Erich Kasirye (whom you later rewarded as Youth Minister for The Province of Uganda and later had serve to recruit/save TEC ¨unholy¨ parishes in the U.S.A.), his wife, Patricia Kasirye, and Colonel Josephine Luboyera?

DO YOU REMEMBER THE LGBT ANGLICAN KITEMU COMMUNITY CENTER?

Integrity USA and Integrity Uganda Joint Statement on Integrity Uganda Leadership and the Rev. Erich Kasirye

¨Leaders of Integrity USA and Integrity Uganda have been in joint consultation for several weeks concerning troubling accounts of the activities of one of the members of the leadership team of Integrity Uganda, the Rev. Erich Kasirye. Fr. Kasirye was among the founders of Integrity Uganda in 2000 and has served frequently as its chief spokesperson.

It is now, sadly, clear to us that Fr. Kasirye has been involved in a number of scams in order to raise money for himself personally using his connection with Integrity Uganda. In particular, in January 2004 he solicited funds from a number of organizations and individuals claiming to have been imprisoned because of his connection to Integrity Uganda, a claim which has turned out not to have been true. At the same time he has, in Uganda, publicly renounced his connection with Integrity to church officials and turned over to them the Kitemu Community Center, which has been the base of Integrity ministry in Uganda. Kitemu Center was built largely with funds raised by Integrity USA.

We do believe that Integrity Uganda remains a vital and legitimate expression of an alternative voice for the Church of Uganda and a haven for lesbian and gay Anglicans in Uganda.

The Rt. Rev. Christopher Ssenyonjo, retired Bishop of West Buganda, and Mr. Denis Iraguha, who has been serving as the President of Integrity Uganda, remain in leadership and have continued the ministry at a site in Kampala. We also believe that Fr. Kasirye's efforts in founding and building Integrity Uganda were honorable, and we are saddened beyond comprehension that he has broken trust with so many people.

It is important, however, for the many networks we have built around the world in support of this ministry, that we make clear that the Rev. Erich Kasirye no longer has any legitimate connection to Integrity Uganda, nor does his wife, Patricia Kasirye, or Colonel Josephine Luboyera, in both of whose names Fr. Kasirye has frequently solicited aid. In addition, the e-mail address is no longer available as a link to the leadership of Integrity Uganda. Our new e-mail address is integrityugcommitte@yahoo.com.

We extend our apologies to all those from whom funds have been solicited for illegitimate purposes in our names and ask your prayers as we seek to re-build the trust that is so vital for our witness. We are building new structures of accountability among us that we hope more adequately protect this trust.¨

Integrity Uganda

REALITY/TRUST CHECK, February, 2010:

As we stand on the eve of Lent and gaze up at the cross, we may ask ourselves, “Are we one with the crucified, or are we complicit in the crucifying?”

¨We have sinned in letting others do the dirty work of building a climate of terror for us, without owning our Anglican complicity.

It is one thing to condemn this bill. It is another stage admit our common participation in the systemic persecution of a voiceless and faceless community within Uganda. Except for courageous clergy like Bishop Christopher Ssenyonjo , the face and voice of this part of the church and her “good news” has been absent.

The Church of Uganda, in yesterday’s statement may not want to send Ssenyonjo or Fr. Gideon to prison, but their choice to become “the church militant” seems inevitable. They are isolating and silencing all who oppose their righteous march to the kingdom. Senyojo is a persecuted bishop in a church he has served for 50 years. He pleaded with two archbishops to put him on trial so he could make his case, but the silence continues. He is without pension and continues to pray with educate and support LGBT people and their families. He cares for the children of his son who like so many fellow bishops, lost their children to AIDS. No-one is reaching out to him. They are not listening to their own voices never mind the likes of Archbishop Williams or the Episcopal Church.

“The blood of the martyrs is the seed of the church” is one of Uganda’s most famous inspirational choruses. Now the church militant is blessing the state to begin the martyring. Ironically, the church’s own history of persecution under Amin and others has now been passed on to the LGBT community and their families. Persecution will only make this little movement for democracy and liberation even stronger in Uganda and will not destroy it. Read your own history, listen to the stories of your ancestors and ask yourselves “Why are we persecuting in the name of God?”

HETEROSEXUAL SEXUAL ABUSERS: Attention Bishop Henry Luke Orombi, ¨BOY and GIRL¨ child sexual abuse has been running rampant in Uganda for DECADES!

Archbishop of The Anglican Province of Uganda, Henry Luke Orombi

Church of Uganda issues position statement opposing Bahati Anti Homosexuality 2009 Bill

The Church of Uganda associates itself with the concerns expressed in the Anti Homosexuality Bill 2009. However, instead of a completely new Bill, the Church recommends a Bill that amends the Penal Code Act (Cap.120) addressing loopholes, in particular:

¨The stance of the Ugandan Church distances itself from support for the present Bill and would effectively kick the whole process into the long grass. They propose amending existing provisions by means of a new Bill which might be called “The Penal Code Unnatural Offences Amendment Bill” and recommend that a comprehensive legislative and literature review of all the laws and literature related to the subject at hand be undertaken in order to identify the actual gaps in the existing legislation.

The position statement is cleverly worded. It doesn’t explicitly state opposition to the Bill but effectively does so by recommending the introduction of a completely new Bill. If the Bahati Bill is passed, the Church of Uganda will be on record as not having supported it. If the Bill fails to pass, will there be any traction behind the proposal to amend existing legislation? I doubt it.

The Church of Uganda proposals for the new Bill addresses three loopholes: protecting the vulnerability of the boy child; proportionality in sentencing; and ensuring that sexual orientation is excluded as a protected human right.

Girl children are protected under existing legislation against abuse by adults. Boy children are not and must be.¨ Changing Attitudes, U.K., HERE

THE EXISTING LEGISLATION IN UGANDA COVERS THE PROTECTION FROM ABUSE OF THE GIRL CHILDREN AND THE ANGLICAN CHURCH OF UGANDA WISHES TO PROTECT THE BOY CHILD EQUALLY?

NOT MUCH REAL PROTECTION EXISTS UNDER THE CURRENT LAWS FOR GIRLS IN UGANDA...protection does still mean to defend and protect from abuse and abusers?

THE ANGLICAN CHURCH OF UGANDA, HENRY OROMBI ARCHBISHOP, OUGHT CONCENTRATE/PREACH/REFORM ON THE DEADLY DAILY VIOLATIONS OF EXISTING LAW AND WITH THE DECADES OLD ABUSE DIRECTED TOWARD WOMEN AND CHILDREN IN UGANDA THAT IS ALREADY THE LAW!

The results of a World Vision HIV and AIDS survey have revealed rampant child sexual abuse in Uganda and have been presented to the country’s government.

World Vision shared information with the Uganda government’s departments of Probation and Social Welfare, Education, Gender and Community Development, Police for child protection, Health Services and with other NGOs such as One World Uganda.

Although findings revealed that World Vision’s ‘Channels of Hope’ and Community Care Coalitions models proved to be effective in transforming people’s attitudes towards those affected by HIV and AIDS, sexual abuse is the biggest problem facing children in Kiboga district, in the central province of Uganda, where the survey was conducted.

According to the survey, sexual coercion was found to be a prominent factor in children’s initiation of sexual intercourse. The findings revealed that although girls were significantly more likely to report their first sexual encounter as ‘coerced’, significant proportions of boys experienced sexual abuse as well.

CHURCH OF UGANDA’S POSITION ON THE ANTI HOMOSEXUALITY BILL 2009 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The Church of Uganda associates itself with the concerns expressed in the Anti Homosexuality Bill 2009. However, instead of a completely new Bill, the Church recommends a Bill that amends the Penal Code Act (Cap.120) addressing loopholes, in particular:

· protecting the vulnerabilities of the boy child;

· proportionality in sentencing;

· and, ensuring that sexual orientation is excluded as a protected human right.

Further, we recommend involvement of all stakeholders in the preparation of such a Bill in order to uphold Uganda’s values as they relate to human sexuality.

The full statement follows:

Church of Uganda’s position on Homosexuality

The Church of Uganda derives her mandate and authority from the canonical scriptures of the Old and New Testament, as the ultimate rule and standard of faith, given by inspiration of God and containing all things necessary from salvation. Her mission is to “fulfill Christ’s mission through holistic teaching, evangelism, discipleship and healing for healthy and godly nations.”

The Church’s position on human sexuality is consistent with its basis of faith and doctrine, and has been stated very clearly over the years as reflected in various documents. (see footnotes: i, ii, iii)

From a plain reading of Scripture, from a careful reading of Scripture, and from a critical reading of Scripture, homosexual practice has no place in God’s design of creation, the continuation of the human race through procreation, or His plan of redemption.

Even natural law reveals that the very act of sexual intercourse is an experience of embracing the sexual “other”. The Church of Uganda, therefore, believes that “Homosexual practice is incompatible with Scripture” (Resolution 1.10, 1998 Lambeth Conference).

At the same time, the Church of Uganda is committed at all levels to offer counseling, healing and prayer for people with homosexual disorientation, especially in our schools and other institutions of learning. The Church is a safe place for individuals, who are confused about their sexuality or struggling with sexual brokenness, to seek help and healing.

The Objective of the Bill

The Church of Uganda appreciates the spirit of the Bill’s objective of protecting the family, especially in light of a growing propaganda to influence younger people to accept homosexuality as a legitimate way of expressing human sexuality.

We particularly appreciate the objectives of the Bill which seek to:

a) provide for marriage in Uganda as contracted only between a man and woman;

b) prohibit and penalize homosexual behavior and related practices in Uganda as they constitute a threat to the traditional family;

c) prohibit ratification of any international treaties, conventions, protocols, agreements and declarations which are contrary or inconsistent with the provisions of the Act;

d) prohibit the licensing of organizations which promote homosexuality.

The need for a Bill that amends existing legislation

We affirm the need for a Bill in light of the existing loopholes in the current legislation, specifically sections 145-148 of the Penal Code Act (Cap 120), which do not explicitly address the other issues associated with homosexual practice such as procurement, recruitment and dissemination of literature.
That notwithstanding, the ideal situation would be one where necessary amendment is made to existing legislation to also enumerate other sexual offenses such as lesbianism and bestiality. This would not require a fresh bill on homosexuality per se but rather an amendment to the existing provisions which would also change the title to something like “The Penal Code Unnatural Offenses Amendment Bill.”

Recommendation

As Parliament considers streamlining the existing legislation, we recommend that the following issues be taken into consideration:

1. Ensure that the law protects the confidentiality of medical, pastoral and counseling relationships, including those that disclose homosexual practice in accordance with the relevant professional codes of ethics.

2. Language that strengthens the existing Penal Code to protect the boy child, especially from homosexual exploitation; to prohibit lesbianism, bestiality, and other sexual perversions; and to prohibit procurement of material and promotion of homosexuality as normal or as an alternative lifestyle, be adopted.

3. Ensure that homosexual practice or the promotion of homosexual relations is not adopted as a human right.

4. Existing and future Educational materials and programs on gender identity and sex education are in compliance with the values and the laws of Uganda.

5. The involvement of additional stakeholders in the evaluation of the gaps in the existing legislation, including, but not limited to, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Education, and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, its Department of Immigration and other relevant departments.

6. The undertaking of a comprehensive legislative and literature review of all the laws and literature related to the subject at hand in order to identify the actual gaps in the existing legislation.
Conclusion

As a Church, we affirm the necessity of appropriate amendments within the existing legislation and corresponding Penal Code sections. The Church of Uganda, being a part of the Anglican Communion, reiterates her position on human sexuality and her desire to uphold the pastoral position of providing love and care for all God’s people caught up in any sin and remaining consistent with Holy Scriptures of the Christian Church.
