¨Openly gay teen Joshua Esskew was attacked by a mob at a gas station in Rock Hill, South Carolina last week. The 19-year-old said that the attack started with an anti-gay slur in which he was the target. He was then hit in the head with a beer bottle by an assailant and attacked by several other people who came at him from all angles.¨ read it all, watch the videos HERE

It's a wonder Joshua survived. When will the hate end?
The horrible random violence of it all-- imagine if you were attacked because you are a mature white woman who some happened to think ¨different¨? It´s all the same, senselessness but you´ve probably felt sometimes vulnerability amongst people in everyday situations, not pretty... LGBTI have lived lifetimes of looking over our shoulders (mostly)...we are blessed to have survived ourselves and others...it´s a big deal when one is on the inside looking out and a bigger big deal to have friends like you.
The young man seems exceedingly well-adjusted to me-- must be Episcopalian...nifty fellow.
On second thought, being ¨Episcopalian¨ in South Carolina is probably not what he is and probably wouldn´t guarantee emotonal or spiritual centeredness of that quality-- mostly likely Unitarian, Buddhist or MCC...I´d love to know for real...certainly a few Episcopalians in South Carolina are healthy and sane.
