His Graceless: Dr. Rowan Williams is no ¨Focus of Unity¨ as he marginalizes, demeans and vetoes qualified candidates from becoming Bishops at The Church of England

The First Amongst Bigots, Archbishop Rowan Williams, Canterbury
¨A meeting of Church of England bishops in York this week has broken up without agreement on whether gay clergy should ever be allowed to be chosen for promotion to bishoprics.

The leadership of the established church remains tied in knots over how far it can comply with the Equality Act in its treatment of gay people. Church lawyers have told the bishops that while they cannot take into account that someone is homosexual in considering them for preferment, they also cannot put forward clergy in active same-sex relationships and, even if they are celibate, must consider whether they can "act as a focus for unity" to their flocks if appointed to a diocese.

Conservative evangelicals remain bitterly opposed to the ordination of gay people, even though many clergy are more or less openly gay, and some are in same-sex partnerships.¨ HERE

Dr Rowan Williams, the archbishop of Canterbury, and John Sentamu, the archbishop of York, vetoed candidates from becoming bishops of the south London diocese.
¨...Slee described Williams shouting and losing his temper in last year's Southwark meeting, which left several members of the crown nomination committee, responsible for the selection of bishops, in tears.

The Very Reverend Jeffrey John, Dean of St Albans
¨The fraught divisions have been laid bare in the leak of an anguished and devastating memorandum written by the Very Rev Colin Slee, the former dean of Southwark Cathedral, shortly before his death from pancreatic cancer last November. Dr Rowan Williams, the archbishop of Canterbury, and John Sentamu, the archbishop of York, vetoed candidates from becoming bishops of the south London diocese.

The document reveals shouting matches and arm-twisting by the archbishops to keep out the diocese's preferred choices as bishop: Jeffrey John, the gay dean of St Albans, and Nicholas Holtam, rector of St Martin-in-the-Fields in central London, whose wife was divorced many years ago. Eventually Christopher Chessun, then an assistant bishop, was chosen...¨ please read it all, HERE

ROWAN WILLIAMS: ¨He is the dead hand bureaucratic referee, but one that has not been neutral but promoted bureaucratic solutions at the cost of minorities.¨

Does this part of the Anglican Communion border on evil?
¨One reason why I stopped taking communion in the Church of England was a conclusion about its wider moral bankruptcy, especially as parts of the Anglican Communion border on evil. The principal reason was my own belief, but others weren't so far off in conversation and they could carry on, showing much loyalty to the idea of the Church even if concerned about the reality. Even though I had two Church wives, and was effectively going back to only one of them, communion could have continued. But it is a public act to take part, and a public act to say no especially if you keep showing your face.

There were people close to me, but also those of very different view, and I asked myself what I had in common with them. Humanity, of course, and conversation is always good, but sometimes you stretch across too far. In the end you have to conclude that they are entitled to their opinion, so long as they can't harm anyone, and if they can't harm anyone then best to let them be. They may have the same view of me. And sometimes associating with the more likeminded develops greater consistency and strength for a clearer outward message.

Now that I have moved over the river, and the now local Anglican church seems (barely) staffed with evangelicals, although my curiosity isn't yet addressed, I'm keeping with my one Church wife. She needs building up a bit.

Perhaps I have read and listened to Rowan Williams too much. I do think he says interesting things from time to time, and has potential for a social and economic and an interfaith theology that can be reflected upon, and have taken to myself his notion of patience even in the heat of situations. But his attitude to the central question of the moment is just one of moral disengagement, saying in this manner:

¨The decision of the American Church to go forward, as it has, with the ordination of a lesbian bishop has, I think, set us back. At the moment I'm not certain how we will approach the next primates' meeting, but regrettably some of the progress that I believe we had made has not remained steady.¨

This sort of pathetic statement means it all comes down to the bureaucracy and it is what makes this man so deeply depressing. One supposes that, faced with oppression, he would work to save the institution first while people suffered. We shouldn't ask too much how someone would respond to repression, given our own potential weaknesses, but Rowan Williams doesn't exactly represent anything prophetic even in his own institutional terms. He is the dead hand bureaucratic referee, but one that has not been neutral but promoted bureaucratic solutions at the cost of minorities...¨ read it all The Pluralist Speaks, HERE

Dr. Rowan Williams, Archbishop of Canterbury, ought strive to be ¨Equal amongst Equals¨

ARCHBISHOP WABUKALA/KENYA: David Kuria, LGBTI Leader, ¨hopes by running for the Senate to inspire other ´marginalized´ to reach out for their potential..¨

David Kuria, the director of GALCK, the Gay and Lesbian Coalition of Kenya, is standing for the Kenyan Senate.

¨...all my life has been about service and in the past have done so in different capacities, including working in poverty alleviation programs. In politics today we have a few persons who are genuinely committed to public service, but on the whole a majority are just interested in either acquisition of wealth or for the most part protecting their wealth through government machinery. I hope to increase that small number genuinely engaged with solving the people's problems - which are many as you have read from my website HERE

Working toward the inclusion of  ALL the marginalized and excluded in Kenyan Society
¨...as a person who has known marginalization and exclusion all my life, I am hoping to use my experiences while in the position of public service to reach out and represent for the interests of those who are marginalized and excluded - some of them are people with mental and physical disabilities...¨
¨some of the marginalized are people with mental and physical disabilities...¨
¨I am reliably told also that our pschiatric hospitals can treat most of the people we ignore in the market places. Since this is a manageable condition I hope to focus on it immediately for people to see what change can come about to people's lives once we drop our shaded glasses of discrimination and stigma. Poverty among the youth is also endemic, yet most people in government because they are rich think of the youth as being lazy and irresponsible, especially when they engage in illicit alcohol, a problem that is endemic in the region I seek to represent. Yet I understand what they go through and will give it a public and national voice...

¨...I hope by running for this position I shall inspire all people to aspire to reach out to their dreams and potential irrespective of what their personal circumstances are. I hope for those who are LGBTI, who have different forms of disabilities, those whose low esteem continually voices a discouragment voice in their minds, who have been excluded because they are poor or come from a small and marginalized tribe. They can aspire to do that which everyone else thinks is impossible for them because of their personal conditions. Indeed I have characterised this candidature as a collective one for all who have been excluded and discriminated from the mainstream - and if you look critically, it is really everybody at one time or another...¨

Excluding/anti-LGBTI Anglican Archbishop Wabukala of Kenya
Attention: Anglican Archbishop Wabukala of KENYA-- Christians ¨losing trust¨ in religious leaders and politicians in Kenya results show three in every 10 Catholics claim not to trust church leaders at all, with the figure being higher among Protestants, at 40 per cent. HERE

¨...I cannot think of a bigger social stigma issue and one that automatically qualifies one for social exclusion in Kenya than being a member of the LGBTI community, and if I can do it so can everybody else.¨ HERE

Nairobi — Anglican Church leaders, just like politicians, have lost the trust of Kenyans, a new survey has said.
·Anglican bishops led by Archbishop Eliud Wabukala (seated,2nd left) announced their ‘No’ campaign on the proposed law at the All Saints Cathedral in Nairobi, Thursday.
·According to the Synovate post-referendum poll, only 19 per cent of those interviewed said they fully trusted Church leaders, compared to 17 per cent who said they fully trusted politicians.
·And it gets worse -- 38 per cent said they don't trust Church leaders at all, a bigger number than the 22 per cent who said they don't trust politicians at all. HERE

Archbishop John Chew: Why do you persecute Anglican/Christian Gays with ridicule, judgement and prejudice in Singapore and Asia?

Bishop John Chew Hiang Chea, Singapore and ¨extremist¨ Right Wing Global South LGBT ¨excluder¨
¨The National Council of Churches (NCC) in Singapore formally stated in the public forum their opposition and critism of the Gay Community in view of the more recent openess and acknowledgement of this Community by the Singaporean Government. Hitherto, the Christian Church in Singapore has been persecuting the Christian Gays in their Churches, with ridicule, judgement, and prejudice. Many a faith has been ship wrecked. I believe that the Word of the Lord to the Christian Church in Singapore is the very cry of Jesus two thousand years ago, to Saul.

¨Many a Faith has been Shipwrecked in Singapore¨
(Acts 9:4 NKJV) Then he fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to him, "Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?"

(Acts 9:5 NKJV) And he said, "Who are You, Lord?" Then the Lord said, "I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. It is hard for you to kick against the goads."

Saul was a religious Jew. He was so jealous of doing what he thought was God's will, that he became the main instigator of persecution against the early Church for believing in Jesus. He was on the road to Damascus to put Christians in jail before He saw the Light, the truth that he was on the contrary persecuting God's people. Similarly, the Churches in Singapore quoting religion, Old Testament Laws for an age and a past dispensation, singled out Gays, the weakest outcast in Society for condemnation. Unequivocally unjust, it focused on Gays, but left out the worshippers of other gods made by man. Never mind the unsound scriptural basis of their justification where Scriptures spoken to Straight people (not Gays) concerning their worship of idols and the resultant practices somehow became a reason made up to condem Gays.

Right Wing GLOBAL SOUTH Anglican Bishop ¨Persecutors of LGBT Christians¨ meet in Singapore  and ¨condemn the weakest outcasts of society¨
Saul the religious zealot, the incarnation of our modern day Right wing Christian, tried but could not capture and kill all the Christians. Similarly, the Christian Church in Singapore try as they may will never conquer the Christian Gays in Singapore. The cry for justice, the cry for equality, will never be quenched. The deepest desire of Gays to marry whom they loved may be stopped for a moment or two, but not for long. Insulting marriage itself, by reasons of defending the sanctity of marriage, the Church came to defend morality, not realizing that their morality is contradictory, a statement of their self righteousness, the very reason Jesus came to set mankind free from.

When will the Christian Church see the light? When would they be converted from Saul to Paul? From Law to Grace ? From the heart of Stone, to the Heart filled by the Spirit of God? From Self righteousness, to Jesus righteousness. Will the Stone at the tomb be moved? HERE

THE ¨KUCHUS¨ OF UGANDA: ¨...they represent a richly diverse community and a potent symbol of how far Uganda’s LGBTI movement has come in a short time

Archbishop Henry Orombi/Uganda--Pandering to evil, fear/hate superstition and taboo at THE BODY OF CHRIST? read it all HERE

THE KUCHU BEEHIVE

¨How activists are using coalitions to promote LGBTI rights in Uganda. The kuchu movement is abuzz in Uganda. Kuchu is a (plural: kuchus) word, apparently of Swahili origin, that lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and intersex (LGBTI) Ugandans have minted to describe their identities.

“We do not use the word ‘queer,’” explains Frank Mugisha, chairman of Sexual Minorities Uganda, an umbrella entity that brings together LGBTI organizations for advocacy purposes. “We’ve got our own word that encompasses the whole idea: kuchu.”

Despite a penal code that criminalizes homosexual acts with penalties of upwards of 10 years of imprisonment, Uganda has witnessed an astounding flowering of kuchu organizations in recent years.

Each cluster is structured differently: some exist primarily as online discussion fora while others run legal aid clinics or provide health services to sexual minorities. Some meet in bars and members’ living rooms while others maintain offices with laptop computers and Wi-Fi internet connections.

Taken together, they represent a richly diverse community and a potent symbol of how far Uganda’s LGBTI movement has come in a short time period. “We are out talking,” says Kasha Jacqueline, the executive director of Freedom and Roam Uganda (FARUG), an association dedicated to empowering lesbian women.

Some activists note that one reason that kuchus are able to speak out is that Ugandan law allows only for the arrest of homosexual acts, not for LGBTI identities. “We want to talk about these things. It’s our resilience that is making all of this happen.”

A painting by Ugandan artist Brian Kezaala Nkoyooyo representing the kuchu movement today Uganda’s embryonic LGBTI movement could hardly have been prepared, however, for the onslaught of activity HERE that would result from the introduction of an Anti-Homosexuality Bill in Ugandan Parliament HERE last year.

“The last six months have been chaotic,” writes Val Kalende, the manager of programs and communications for FARUG, in an e-mail, further explaining that most organizations were forced to slow down their other day-to-day activities to focus on fighting the bill.

The proposed bill calls for the death penalty for cases of the newly concocted crime of “aggravated homosexuality,” criminalizes advocacy on behalf of gay people, and would require third parties (including family members) to report known homosexuals within twenty-hour hours.

The bill has garnered significant media attention in the West both for its connections to the American religious right HERE (the subject of at least two documentaries) and the threat of donor governments to withdraw their aid to Uganda if the bill were to pass. Most American evangelical churches have distanced themselves from a bill that the Swedish government called “appalling” and President Obama deemed “odious,” but others like Canyon Ridge Christian Church in Nevada remain steadfast supporters of those who promote the bill.

Whatever else it did, the bill provided the nebulous LGBTI movement in Uganda with a common enemy, and the myriad organizations that were just beginning to take shape recognized the need to come together to kill the bill. read it all, HERE

Persecuted? Marginalized? Hated in Africa and beyond Africa? XENOPHOBES are showing their true colors of hypocrisy and prejudice!

¨Are you hated? Are you marginalized or persecuted for something which you cannot help being, or for something that is as natural to you as breathing? Congratulations - that makes you another equal victim of xenophobia!

While racism indeed still remains a nasty aspect to modern life, homophobia is just as much a part of modern society, and just as nasty and every bit as unjust, cruel and inexcusable. In fact, those who now decry racism and xenophobia as their new war cries, while pooh-poohing the dangers faced by people they themselves are intolerant of under the terms homophobia and transphobia - by doing so only show their true colors all too easily. which colors you may ask? The colors of hypocrisy and prejudice.

The dictionary definition of the term "xenophobia" is:

"xenophobia [(zen-uh- foh -bee-uh, zee-nuh- foh -bee-uh)] An unreasonable fear, distrust, or hatred of strangers, foreigners, or anything perceived as foreign or different. – noun an unreasonable fear or hatred of foreigners or strangers or of that which is foreign or strange. xen·o·phobe (zěn'ə-fōb', zē'nə-) n. A person unduly fearful or contemptuous of that which is foreign, especially of strangers or foreign peoples."

It doesn't take a genius I.Q. to realize that racism and homophobia - and any other "ism" or "phobia" that targets people for inherent differences and diversity, tries to separate people on the basis of their diversity, or persecute them for their differences - form a vital and integral part of xenophobia.

And quite honestly, anyone who indulges in xenophobia, whether it be racist or homophobic - obviously has no clue what it is like to be persecuted, objectified, hated or ostracized for something so basic as their race, ethnicity, gender or sexuality. If they did, they would do the decent thing and live and let live. If they did, and still persecuted others - well, let's just politely say they are quite probably not very nice people...¨

Anyone who is curious enough to want to know how it feels to be hated should go onto the internet and look for a website belonging to a group that makes a business of hating some particular group. The best way to realize what it feels like to be hated is to go and look for a group or site that targets people like you for hate. That will be an eye-opener, I guarantee you.

If you're black, then maybe you should pop in at a skinhead or neo-nazi website to check out their policies page, where they will tell how "dirty" people like you are, and how dangerous it is to let you and your relatives live next door to them in peace because of how you spoil everything for them - or if you're gay perhaps you should drop in at a homophobic Christian group website, where they will explain to you ad nausea um how evil you are for "choosing a dangerous lifestyle" and "threatening" civilization, "the family" and their religion....¨ HERE
