The Final Good Friday Procession just passed by

ANTIGUA, GUATEMALA, HOLY WEEK PASSION, PROCESSIONS and CREATIVITY

It´s after 10:00 P.M. Good Friday and a few minutes ago the final procession for today passed my door...hundreds of the faithful followed the brass band (playing mournful music) and the incense is still whafting to the heavens as dozens of men dressed (cucurucho´s) in Black Robes shoulder carried the huge ¨onda¨ with the Sculpture of Jesus being lowered from the cross on top.

I led a procession yesterday. I looked like a clerical pied-piper leading a coach party of the elderly on a day out from their residential home.

DP, You did a good thing and I´m certain the ¨elderly¨ (yikes, like me) appreciated your leadership and kindness greatly...no doubt about it.

Leonardo, the opportunity to experience a procession like you describe is something I hope to realize one day. May I express some benign envy here?

Blessings, dear brother.

We had a rather more subdued procession (2 pieces) at Torrelaguna, some 50 kms north of Madrid. It began at sunset (8 PM) and ended after midnight!
