“We’d ask him, ‘Jaheem, what’s wrong with you?’” Keene recalled. “He’d never tell us.”
He didn’t want his sister to tell, either. She witnessed much of the bullying, and many times rose to her brother’s defense, Keene said.
“They called him gay and a snitch,” his stepfather said. “All the time they’d call him this.”
The 11-year-old enjoyed dancing and drawing, and the easy smile he flashed for the photographers was genuine, his stepfather said Monday night.

just read through most of the posts you put up, and though i may not be anglican or straight i am a firm believer in Christianity... i beg your forgiveness and the forgiveness of each child driven to their grave, the forgiveness of their parents the forgiveness of their friends and siblings, the forgiveness of all those whose lives have been marred by this modern day crusade... back in the day it was muslims... we would ride out on our horses and slaughter all who opposed anything remotely "un-godly" now its the minute differences, persecution because of sexuality, being coated as "god's work"... i'm truly sorry, i'm sorry for what i'm about to say next but unfortunately the only way humans learn seems to be through pain.maybe if the children of those who oppress us maybe if their future was hit with the same pain we feel, maybe if.... but i know they would justify it as "god's work" once again and say their reward is in heaven...they are the people who arrive at the gates of heaven with their hands dripping with blood and for some strange reason they don't understand why their names aren't in the book of life. i wish to pray for God o have mercy on their souls, but i can't because of the pain they have caused, the families they have destroyed,its just too overwhelming, its too much, all that hurt, and for what purpose??? to "earn" a place in heaven... if not all who call... simply call him lord lord will get into the kingdom of heaven, what about those who cause death in the name of the God of life... where in heaven is their place... once again, i'm sorry for all the pain, and the suffering... they were just children... woe unto those who causes any of them grief, as is said, it would be better for them to tie a millstone around their neck and cast themselves into the deepest parts of the sea than for them to stand before the lord on the day of judgment.
